Celebrity botanist to celebrate Reaseheath’s new build
Internationally acclaimed botanist and natural historian David Bellamy OBE is to lay a commemorative foundation stone for Reaseheath College’s new animal management centre next Wednesday, May 26.
The global environmental campaigner and television personality will also plant a rare tree in the college grounds and give a talk to students and visitors on the biodiversity of Britain and how it has been influenced by agriculture and horticulture.
The latest £4 million investment into the Nantwich college’s animal centre is on schedule for completion later this summer. The new build will result in specialist rooms for reptiles, amphibians and fish, accommodation for domestic mammals, teaching and meeting rooms and an impressive entrance to the college zoo.
This is the second phase of a major refurbishment which has already provided the department with a 21st century dog grooming parlour, laboratories and training facilities.
Reaseheath Principal Meredydd David said: “We are very much looking forward to welcoming such a well respected and renowned naturalist onto our campus and to showing him around our world class facilities.”
The new animal management building is part of a continuing multi-million pound investment into specialist resources across campus. Over £30 million pounds has been spent over the past three years on major building projects including a learning skills centre, a dedicated Engineering Skills Academy, an IT Centre, an indoor riding arena and two halls of residence.
