Length of the course
The distance learning and day release modes of study are typically completed within two years. The course is modular and completion time may be shorter depending on the rate of individual progress.
Individual modules can be studied for Continuing Professional Development
Entry requirements
Applications from mature students and those with non-standard academic backgrounds, or with appropriate experience are considered on an individual basis.

Career options
There are many different areas of employment in the food sector which offer interesting and challenging opportunities for progression and advancement. These include team leader, supervisory and management positions in food manufacture, distribution and retailing including new product development, marketing, laboratory testing, food hygiene, nutrition and dietetics, production management, food engineering, and quality assurance. There is a skills shortage in the food industries and food companies are on the lookout for qualified personnel. Alternatively teachers and trainers may wish to update their food technology skills.
