Student Profile
Adam Al-Khan

Ambition: Zoo keeper / conservationist

School: Westwood College, Leek

Age: 21

Keen on exotic animals, particularly snakes, Adam’s been in his element during practical sessions in our specialist reptile room and has also enjoyed his weekly work placement as a trainee zoo keeper at Blackbrook Zoo, Staffordshire, where he has gradually taken on more responsibilities.

A former trainee development chef, he’s really pleased that he decided to change direction and has been making the most of his time at Reaseheath. Apart from his work placement he’s particularly enjoyed visits to zoos and museums and listening to talks by industry professionals.

Adam has now progressed onto our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management and is considering specialising in zoo management.

He says: “Studying at Reaseheath has made me realise what a wide range of jobs are available and given me lots of different experiences. There’s a good variety of animals here, from exotics to companion animals here, and the facilities are brilliant.”
