Food Industry Skills

Dairy Industry, Meat and Poultry, Food Industry Skills, Baking Industry Skills or Food Manufacture Excellence

You will combine work in food manufacturing or development with additional training in the workplace delivered by Reaseheath tutors. Depending on your industry focus, you will study one of the following pathways; dairy, meat and poultry, food industry, baking or food manufacture.

In addition to gaining your apprenticeship you will develop important industry relevant skills and have the opportunity to complete additional certificates in health and safety and food safety.

  • 18 to 24 months depending on previous experience (delivered in the workplace)

What qualifications do I need to start?

  • Preferably GCSEs at grades E or above
  • 6 months prior work experience in the industry is an advantage

How much will this course cost?

If you are under 19 on 31st August 2018 the tuition fees and exam costs are free for our courses. If you are aged 19 or over you may have to pay a fee.

You may also be required to pay costs associated with additional qualifications.

Transport

Ambition: Manager within Bakkavor

Employer: Bakkavor Hitchen Foods, Wigan

Age: 20

Reaseheath’s ‘Advanced Apprentice of the Year’, James is a development apprentice with Bakkavor Hitchen Foods, a company supplying prepared vegetables, salads and ready meals to supermarkets.

Being part of a substantial company has its benefits, as James has had the opportunity to gain wide experience of production systems. He is also supported by our assessors who observe him at his workplace and teach him new techniques.

James says: “The best thing about being an apprentice is that you learn valuable skills ‘on the job’. You’re working alongside people who know the industry inside out and are experts in their field.”
