Sports Turf and Greenkeeping Management

This qualification could prepare you for a career with world-wide opportunities. You will learn how to maintain, repair and prepare golf courses and sports facilities, as well as learning the scientific principles which underpin turf care and management.

  • 2 years, full-time

What qualifications do I need to start?

  • 5 GCSEs including grade B in Maths, English and Science and grade C in 2 other subjects
  • Relevant Level 2 Diploma at Merit or above with GCSE grade B in Maths and English. Those with other level 2 qualifications will be considered on a case by case basis

What qualifications will I gain?

  • Level 3 180 credit Extended Diploma in Horticulture
  • Level 3 Extened Project qualification
  • Level 3 Core Maths

Year 2 modules

  • Construct and establish sports and amenity turf areas
  • Manage winter and summer sports surfaces
  • Plant health and protection
  • Manage soil water

You will also have the opportunity to undertake additional qualifications that support industry skills development.

Industry mentor

You will also complete an industry based placement and be assigned an ‘Industry Mentor’ who will provide support and guidance during your course programme.

This will help you to develop the knowledge, experience and skills that will best prepare you for a career in the sports turf industry.

How much will this course cost?

If you are under 19 on 31st August 2017 the tuition fees and exam costs are free for our courses. If you are aged 19 or over you may have to pay a fee.

You may also be required to pay costs associated with study tours or additional qualifications.
