What skills do I need?

You don’t need any formal skills but a keen interest in sports is essential! Your GCSE results will determine which level course you come and study. For entry requirements take a look at each course page.

What are my job/career options after this course?

Depending on what level course you study career options vary from working in a gym or sports/leisure centre, becoming a teacher, referee or personal trainer and much more.

What qualifications will I get?

This will depend on which level course you choose to study. Find out on each course page in the ‘At a glance’ section.

There is also a chance to gain additional qualifications. These include FA Level 1 Coaching (Football) and Active IQ gym Instructor Level 2. Level 1 coaching courses in other sports are available dependent upon numbers and availability.

Where will I study, what are the facilities like?

Sports Performance have a brand new gym with state-of-the-art fitness equipment and a fitness testing lab. This includes an Olympic lifting platform and weights area, a functional fitness area, watt bike and VO2 Max Machine. We also have strong links with Crewe Alexandra Football Club, Nantwich Town Football Club and Sandbach Ladies Football Club and using their facilities is another perk of studying sport at Reaseheath. We also use a wide range of top class sporting facilities within the Crewe and Nantwich area to supplement our academic programmes and have a wide range of equipment for different sports and fitness testing requirements.

Will my course cost anything?

Students aged under 19 will not be charged tuition fees. If you are aged over 19 visit the 19+ Further Education Tuition Fees page.

Will I go on any trips or study tours?

Sports performance students will have the opportunity to go to sports shows, team building activities and to do project work. In the past trips have included visiting the 2012 Olympic Stadium, Manchester Velodrome and Chill Factor to name a few. The estimated cost for these trips is £60 which you will be expected to pay on enrolment day.

What equipment will I need?

Students on a sports performance course will need to have trainers, practical kit and sports performance clothing. Kit should be black, white or navy (The sports performance clothing costs approximately £45, a letter detailing the purchase of clothing will be sent to you. The kit consists of a labelled hooded jumper, Polo top and running shirt).

All students will also be required to purchase stationery and reference textbooks.

Is work experience part of my course?

All students will undertake work experience, how much will depend on which course you are studying. Please check course pages for details.

Will I be doing stock duties?

Due to the nature of the course, you will not be required to complete stock duties however you will be expected to participate in sports training and fixtures on Wednesday afternoons and attend our annual Family Festival in May.
