Do you fancy an exciting and challenging career that will allow you to introduce others to the great outdoors?
A course in Adventure Sports gives you the chance to gain skills in a wide range of outdoor activities, including sailing, canoeing, climbing and hill walking. You will develop teamwork, self-reliance and leadership – all attributes that will enhance ‘employability’ in the growing leisure industry.
You will be off site regularly – kayaking and canoeing in North Wales, rock climbing at the Roaches, in North Staffordshire and in the Peak District, and hill walking and camping in Scotland.
In 2012 our Adventure Sports students sailed over 1,000 nautical miles in ocean- going yachts during a week long voyage which took them along the south coast of England and to France and the Channel Islands. This is the second year that our students have enjoyed this sort of adventure, learning responsibility, resourcefulness and teamwork. some have been inspired to join tall ships races, complete watch leader training or study yacht operations to degree level.
Our students also learned about the winter tourism industry and developed their skiing and snowboarding skills during a visit to the Alpine ski resort of Risoul. The study tour gave our students the opportunity to see how a winter sports trip is organised and to experience life in a resort, including the reality of hard work and long days!
Reaseheath’s own outdoor equipment includes Laser Picos RS Vision asymmetric sailing boats, Specialised Rock Hopper mountain bikes, a range of modern kayaks and canoes, high and low ropes courses and an indoor climbing wall with leading walls.
You will learn a wide range of personal and professional skills from a team of highly qualified and experienced staff, preparing you for a life of adventure – either in this country or abroad.
