These leisure programmes are designed to develop and reinforce a wide range of practical horticultural skills which are required by the keen amateur or enthusiast.

Introduction to Garden HistoryThis six week course examines the History of Garden Design from the very first gardens through to the modern day. Important periods covered include the Italian Renaissance, French Baroque, the English Landscape movement and Arts and Crafts. Suitable for beginners or those with an existing interest in the subject. 6 weeks

Introduction to Plant PropagationThis six week course will introduce the science and practice of a range of plant propagation techniques. Skills in seed collection, storage and sowing as well as vegetative propagation will mean you may never have to spend money at the Garden Centre again. 6 weeks

Design your GardenGet creative in the world of garden design. Drawing skills are not required, but an idea or a passion to create something at home in your own space is useful. At the end of this course, you should be able to plan or create a beautiful space and apply the theories of hard and soft landscaping. 6 weeks

The Art of PlantsThis course offers students of all abilities the opportunity to improve their drawing skills and learn more about plants that interest them. Each week you will study a new, seasonal plant and different art technique including sketching, charcoals, watercolour and acrylic. There are no formal entry requirements to this course. You do not need previous experience; you just need an interest in drawing and planting design.6 weeks

Introduction to CAD for Garden DesignersThis course introduces you to the basics of CAD using Vectorworks, an industry standard CAD software package. During this course you will learn how to navigate around the CAD drawing environment; use basic 2D drawing and editing tools; organise your drawing and produce basic 2D plans and technical details. 6 weeks

Advanced CAD for Garden Designers In this course you will learn how to use Vectorworks to create planting plans, design drawings and construction details. You will also learn how to create your own resources and symbols in CAD to help make your drawing more personal and bespoke. 6 weeks
