Food Enterprise
This course has been designed to enable the development of enterprise skills through practical technical learning. Enterprise skills provide a great progression pathway into a number of roles in an organisation and are transferable into all businesses. This course is also designed for learners with an interest in food and cookery. It will provide learners with experience of using different cooking skills and methods to enable them to use these within a related food industry or a further Level 3 course in either Food Technology or Bakery.
What will I study?
Business modules:
- The business enterprise environment
- Researching a concept for a new or revised product or service
- Promoting and financing an enterprise idea
- Planning and pitching an enterprise idea
Food modules:
- Preparing to cook
- Understanding food
- Exploring balanced diets
- Plan and produce dishes in response to a set brief
Plus:
- Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths depending on previous qualifications
How long will it take?
1 year, full-time. Your timetable will be structured as follows:
- 1 day – Business
- 0.5 days – Food
- 0.5 days – study skills
- 1 day – Maths and English
What qualifications do I need to start?
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above
What qualifications will I gain?
- BTEC Level 2 Technical Certificate in Business Enterprise
- NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Food and Cookery Skills
- Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths depending on previous qualifications
Course options after this programme
- You can progress on to a Level 3 course in Business, Professional Bakery or Food Technology and Management
- Go straight into employment within the business or food sector
- Start up your own business or food enterprise
