We have a range of FREE Functional Skills and GCSE maths and English courses for those who would like to improve their skills or those wanting to gain a qualification.

Our expert teachers will develop your confidence, understanding and skills in a friendly, supportive and positive learning environment.

GCSE in Maths/English

Who are these courses for?

These courses are for adults (aged 19+) who are looking to enhance their CV and career prospects or go on to further study by gaining a GCSE in maths and/or English.

The course is FREE for anyone who is 19+ and does not already have a grade C/4 in the subject.

When will the course run?

Our GCSE maths and English courses are studied part-time over one year. The courses are studied one evening per week at Reaseheath College with a range of online resources to support learning. Courses start in September and exams take place in May and June. GCSE English classes are on Tuesday evenings and GCSE Maths are on Wednesday evenings from 6.30-9pm.

What will I study?

At the start of the course, there is an initial assessment to identify your strengths and weaknesses in the GCSE topics and any additional needs. During the course, there is an outline program of topics to be studied and your teacher will give you feedback on your progress. You can work on topics to meet your individual needs at a pace that suits you. You will be expected to complete study outside the classroom to consolidate your skills.

Functional Skills in Maths/English

Who are these courses for?

These courses are for adults (aged 19+) who are looking for a short course to improve their maths and/or English skills to enhance job prospects or as a stepping stone into further study.

There are three functional skills pathways (Entry 3 / Level 1 / Level 2) and it is possible to progress through the pathways or start directly on Level 2 if that is the best pathway for you. These qualifications are well recognised in industry and education and can help you to secure a place on other courses, apprenticeships or increase your job prospects.

The course is FREE for anyone who is 19+ and does not already have a grade C/4 in the subject.

When will the course run?

Our Functional Skills maths and English courses are studied part-time over 12 weeks. Classes are at Reaseheath College and new courses start each term.  Functional Skills English takes place on Tuesday evenings and Functional Skills Maths is on Wednesday evenings from 6-9pm.

What will I study?

The functional skills maths and English courses have three pathways (Entry 3/Level 1/Level 2) and will cover a range of skills depending on the pathway you are on. At the start of the course, there is an initial assessment to identify the best pathway for you and it is possible to progress through each level or start directly on Level 2.
