We have a range of FREE Maths and English classes in both Functional Skills and GCSE for those who would like to improve their skills or gain a qualification.

Our expert teachers will develop your confidence and understanding in a friendly, supportive and positive learning environment.

Who are these courses for?

These courses are for adults (aged 19+) who are looking for a short course to improve their maths and/or English skills to enhance job prospects or as a stepping stone into further study.

The course is FREE for anyone who is UK resident, 19+ and does not have a grade C/4+ in the subject.

When will the course run?

Our Functional Skills Maths and English courses run three times a year:

  • Sep-Jan (15 weeks/blended learning: one evening per week and online)
  • Jan-May (15 weeks/blended learning: one evening per week and online)
  • Summer workshop (5 workshops/blended learning: workshop days and online)

What will I study?

There are 3 pathways for functional skills (FS) Maths and English: Entry 3/Level 1/Level 2. You will cover a range of skills depending on your pathway. At the start of the course, there is an initial assessment to identify your best FS route – it is possible to progress through the levels or start directly on Level 2 if that is the best pathway for you.

  • Study mode: blended learning – face-to-face and online
  • Enrolment: Monday 3rd August
  • Start dates: 3rd/6th/11th/18th/21st August (3rd and 21st August are key dates when all students must attend the workshop)
  • Location: Reaseheath (PLC)
  • Entry requirements: none
  • Fee: free (if you are a UK resident, aged 19+ and don’t have a grade C/4 or above)

GCSE in Maths/English

Who are these courses for?

These courses are for adults (aged 19+) who are looking to enhance their CV and career prospects or go on to further study by gaining a GCSE in maths and/or English.

The course is FREE for anyone who is 19+ and does not already have a grade C/4 in the subject.

When will the course run?

Our GCSE maths and English courses are studied part-time over one year. The courses are studied one evening per week at Reaseheath College with a range of online resources to support learning. Courses start in September and exams take place in May and June. GCSE English classes are on Tuesday evenings and GCSE Maths are on Wednesday evenings from 6.30-9pm.

What will I study?

At the start of the course, there is an initial assessment to identify your strengths and weaknesses in the GCSE topics and any additional needs. During the course, there is an outline program of topics to be studied and your teacher will give you feedback on your progress. You can work on topics to meet your individual needs at a pace that suits you. You will be expected to complete study outside the classroom to consolidate your skills.
