Getting started on your Reaseheath Experience
Before you join Reaseheath we want to make sure you can find out about all the opportunities we offer and help you choose the right course for you.
You’ll find lots of information about our range courses, as well as the careers you could progress onto, in this prospectus and on our website.
You can also get a flavour of life on campus by coming along to one of our Course Open Events or Taster Days. These events are the perfect opportunity for you to come and see the campus and gain impartial information, advice and guidance from our staff.
Once you’ve decided we’re the right college for you, it’s time to apply and enrol.
Welcome to Reaseheath
Once you’ve enrolled, it’ll soon be time to start your first term. Our Freshers Crew will be on-hand to help you get to know the college, meet new friends and settle in to the campus.
You’ll meet your tutors and other staff during your full induction
programme, as well as visit the Freshers Fair, explore our facilities and learn everything you need to know about health and safety.
Your study programme
Whatever subject area or level of course you choose, your study
programme will give you the edge when it comes to progressing
successfully into your career of choice.
Your study programme is designed to offer a challenging and
exciting learning journey that not only gives you the knowledge needed to
succeed in your chosen area of study but also wider technical, academic, personal and employability skills.
You study programme is made up of all of the following areas…
Your core qualification is a substantial qualification at Level
1, 2 or 3 relevant to your chosen area of study and entry grades. These technical qualifications contain a mix of theoretical and practical learning, see our course pages for more information.

Maths and English
Employers frequently stress the importance of achieving a good
level of understanding in maths and English.
It is essential for the world of work and skills which are used
on a daily basis. At Reaseheath we are committed to enabling
you to develop your language, literacy and numeracy skills, with the ultimate aim that you maximise your success and achievement within the workplace.
BeReady tutorial programme
BeReady is a unique tutorial programme designed by staff and
students to develop your skills and prepare you for a successful
career and life in today’s society.
BeReady tutorial topics include social, moral and cultural
awareness, staying safe, employability skills, study skills, being healthy, understanding modern society and its values and good citizenship.
BeEmployable: Skills for employment
Our BeEmployable programme is in place to support you with
your career choices. Working alongside employer mentors,
we’ll help prepare you for the world of work by developing the right skills for employment:
- Leadership and creativity
- Planning and organising
- Initiative and motivation
- Communication skills and confidence
- Time management
- Team work
BeEmployable: Work placement preparation
As part of your study programme you will be supported in finding an industry relevant work placement (up to 100 hours) by our dedicated BeEmployable team.
Your placement provides the opportunity to gain valuable employability skills and experience in the workplace – all great for your CV!
Typically you’ll spend 2-3 weeks working in an industry relevant to your course and interest. Whilst on placement you’ll be assigned an employer mentor who will make regular contact with you, offering advice and guidance in both course and industry related matters.
BeEmployable: Careers advice and job shop
Our qualified careers advisors will be onhand during your
time at college to provide impartial careers guidance and information and advice on your next steps.
You’ll also benefit from CV workshops, guidance with UCAS applications and a dedicated vacancy job shop.
When you join Reaseheath College you’ll become part of the Reaseheath student body giving you access to the many varied and exciting social and recreational opportunities throughout the year.
From sports to study tours, charity fundraising to volunteering opportunities,
there’s something for everyone!
Student and College life
All students will have a personal tutor who will provide
1:1 guidance and support throughout the year. The goal of
your tutor is to help maximise your level of achievement and to
help ensure positive progression to further study or employment.
As well as your tutor, you’ll have access to outstanding student support from a range of departments across the college, including learning support, student
services, wellbeing and counselling, student finance and student transport.
Preparation for progression
On completing your BeReady Passport and Reaseheath Experience, you’ll be ready for your next steps, whether that’s
starting employment or progressing onto degree level study
at University Centre Reaseheath or another institution.
At the end of the academic year, you will be invited to attend our Presentation of Awards ceremony to celebrate your achievements and hard work with your friends and family.
