Canine Academy

Interested in working in the canine industry?

Canine Academy is designed for those aged 14-17yrs, who are looking into a career working with dogs. Aimed to help young adults get the experience they need to help them get work experience, or help get into the College course they need – or just for a look into how the canine industry works. Canine Academy is an opportunity for you to gain a little more practical experience, and an insight into what it takes to have a career working with dogs.

A 2 day course; Canine Academy combines both practical and theory aspects of working with dogs, with workshops covering canine first aid, grooming, canine training and behaviour, as well as practical tasks. Each student will build a portfolio, with evidence of work for use after successful completion of the course. You’ll even get a certificate which can be included in you CV.

What to expect:

  • A combination of practical activities and theory sessions, both indoors and outdoors
  • Runs across 2 days during the school holiday periods.
  • Each day runs from 10am – 4pm
  • Ran by qualified instructors and Canine Keepers; to give the best experience of working with dogs
  • T-shirt (uniform) will be provided, just let us know what size you need.
  • Canine school candidates must be physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weathers
  • Bring a packed lunch with you
  • Based in our canine centre
  • Be prepared to have fun, learn lots- and start your canine career!

The cost of Canine Academy is £75 for the 2 day course- including your Canine Academy tshirt.

‘Please can I have a Dog?’ Day

Our please can I have a dog day workshop is designed for 6-13 year olds who would like the responsibility of owning their own dog. Throughout the day they will learn everything that they will need to know about owning a dog, through theory workshops and hands on practical sessions with dogs.

What to expect:

  • A combination of practical activities and theory sessions, both indoors and outdoors.
  • 1 day workshop ran during school holidays from 10am-2pm
  • Ran by qualified instructors and canine keepers; to give you the best experience of what owning a dog will entail.
  • Candidates must be physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weathers.
  • Bring a packed lunch with you
  • Based in our canine centre
  • You’ll even get a certificate to show your parents that you are ready to own a pet dog
  • Be prepared to have fun, learn lots about what it takes to own a dog

The cost of ‘Please can I have a Dog?’ Day is £30.
