adventure sports - sailing

Active and adventurous? Adventure Sports may be the ideal course for you!

If you love the great outdoors and fancy a career that’s challenging and exciting, our adventure sports courses are definitely for you!

You’ll enjoy activities like sailing, canoeing, climbing or mountain walking at least one day a week and you’ll develop self-reliance and the ability to lead and inspire others.

There’s also the chance to gain National Governing Body Awards from well recognised organisations such as the British Canoe Union, Mountain Training and the Royal Yachting Association (RYA).

Our experienced and highly qualified staff will pass on valuable knowledge and skills by delivering on both the practical and classroom elements of the course.

We have our own professional outdoor equipment including Laser Pico and RS Vision asymmetric sailing boats, Lapierre mountain bikes and a range of modern kayaks and canoes. What’s more, we’re in easy access of the North Wales coast and the hills of the Lake District and Derbyshire.

You’ll complete several weeks of relevant work experience each year to give you a real taste of the industry – it’ll look great on your CV too.

Lots of our students get jobs as instructors with holiday companies or outdoor activity centres. After gaining experience, many go on to take degrees or move into management.

When we finally caught up with our super-active students, they told us that they most enjoy:

  • Improving their skiing and snowboarding techniques during study tours in the Alps
  • Crewing a yacht from the Rona Trust Sailing Project round Britain’s south coast and to France
  • Hiking and camping in Snowdonia and getting full marks for map reading on the way back
  • Trying new activities like coasteering, sea kayaking and abseiling
  • Learning winter skills in the Cairngorms
  • Gaining extra qualifications in areas such as paddlesports, sailing, climbing and abseiling
