Reaseheath Rangers Senior Academy

What’s it all about?

  • A combination of practical activities, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Designed for those people who “always wanted to work with animals but never did” or “wish they could have a go at what the students do”.
  • This course is for the adults who have an interest in working with animals, or seeing how a zoo collection runs
  • Run by zoo keepers and qualified teachers, this gives you the chance to shadow a keeper and find out all you ever wanted to know about each species; its behaviour and husbandry requirements.
  • Zoo school candidates must be physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weathers.
  • Bring a packed lunch with you for a picnic in the zoo
  • Based in our outdoor education classroom- in the heart of the zoo

Daily tasks include:

  • Preparing food and feeding animals
  • Creating enrichment devices, and providing them to a range of species
  • Assisting with maintenance tasks in animal exhibits

Dates available:

  • 2nd – 4th August
  • 15th – 17th August

The Senior Academy is for adults only. Book from 1 to 3 days for £30 per person, per day and indulge your inner zoo keeper.
