About the role

The Dean of Higher Education and Assistant Principal will be a member of the Executive team as well as a member of the Senate and Academic Leadership Group at the University of Chester (UoC). Working to the Principal and in partnership with the other Assistant Principals you will provide the executive management capacity and expertise to maintain a focus and emphasis on consistency and the quality of teaching and learning outcomes for our learners. You will play a key role in accelerating the College’s progress towards  achievement of a ‘gold’ status in TEF.

You will lead HE curriculum development and delivery and will contribute to the formulation and execution of college strategy. This post will primarily focus on the continuing development and delivery of HE across the College, working in strategic partnership with the UoC. This will encompass the development, delivery and management of the HE curriculum; higher level technical qualifications and apprenticeships, quality assurance and improvement; resource management and liaison with our University partners. The role will also have strategic and operational oversight of the development of the new Institute of Technology.

The College places a significant emphasis on team working and, in addition to providing strong team leadership, the Dean of HE and Assistant Principal will be expected to develop the management capacity within the HE Faculty and wider College to ensure that best practice is shared and embedded.

We believe the post offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, energetic and results-oriented person. Combining the leadership of the HE Faculty with membership of the College’s Executive team, it represents a superb opportunity to make a significant impact and to progress your career.

Candidates for this role will demonstrate exceptional leadership and management skills and the capacity to inspire and develop others; a strong track record working within HE (preferably with some experience in an FE setting); quality improvement; extensive successful experience of curriculum development, management and innovation; excellent communication skills; drive and enthusiasm combined with a can-do approach; and the personal resilience to ensure that the College’s commitment to the highest standards is met.
