Studying the Foundation Degree in Adventure Sports and Management will allow you to develop the skills and experience needed for a career in the adventure sports industry. As well as practical and academic sessions and a 10 week work placement, students also have the opportunity to undertake residential field trips and study tours both in the UK and abroad.
We’ll also help you gain industry recognised Coaching, Instructing and Personal Proficiency qualifications such as RYA, BCU and MLT Awards, to enhance your career prospects.
Sports include; Canoeing, Archery, Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Sailing, Powerboating, Mountain Biking, Buschcraft, High Ropes,Mountain Walking
The first year of your course will include modules on;
- Practical Land and Water Based Adventure Sports
- Principles of Adventurer Education
- The Adventure Sports Business and Management
- Academic and Professional Development
- Adventure sports and their Relationship with the Outdoor Environment
- Safety and Risk management in Adventure Sports
The second year of your course includes modules on;
- Principles of Coaching Adventure Sports
- Leadership and Facilitation in Adventure Education
- Philosophy of Adventure Education
- Resource Management and Marketing in Adventure Sports
- Business Development and Entrepreneurship
- Managing Sustainability in Adventure Sports
Typically students who have an active interest in Adventure Sports are encouraged to apply and hold;
- 140 UCAS Points from A/AS Levels,
- BTec Level 3 Diplomas,
- Scottish Highers
- or equivalent qualifications (Inc. HE Access Courses & Mature Students)
We also accept applications from students who have complete a recognised Access to HE course or are over 21 years old and can demonstrate their ability to study in Higher Education.
