The Course
Elin has combined her studies with valuable industry experience, including working at a local Welsh pony stud and shadowing an equine vet as part of her work placement.
“All of my work experience has been incredibly valuable and has helped shape my future goals. Working at the Welsh pony stud is where my love for horses began, and I’ve learned so much there, which Reaseheath has helped me build on, especially in areas such as breeding.”
Shadowing an equine vet also gave her an insight into veterinary work while helping her develop confidence, communication and professional skills.
Alongside her main qualification, Elin also studied for and passed her BHS Stage 2 Care qualification at Reaseheath, adding a recognised industry qualification to her practical experience.
The Achievement
For Elin, the combination of practical experience and academic study has helped turn a passion for horses into a clear career direction.
“These experiences have shown me that becoming a vet is the career that I’d like to pursue and a way I can give back to my local community.”
What’s Next
Elin is heading to Aberystwyth University to study Veterinary Bioscience, with the aim of progressing towards Veterinary Medicine. Her long-term ambition is to become a mixed-practice vet, with a particular focus on equine and large animal work.
“I’d love to combine my passion for the equine industry with a career in veterinary medicine, while continuing to work with and support the animals and local community.”
