Foundations for Life and Work Pathway

The Foundations for Life and Work pathway includes options at Entry 2 and 3 and will equip you with essential personal, social, and employability skills, and is designed to develop your independence, self-confidence, and self-awareness.

You will receive plenty of support and be empowered to achieve your full potential, taking into account your individual needs in an inclusive and student centered approach.

What will I study?

Skills you will have the opportunity to develop may include:

  • Team working, problem solving and communication
  • Promoting independence, making choices and decisions
  • Ready to work – time keeping, attendance, self-management
  • Health and well-being (healthy eating, personal hygiene and presentation)
  • Working and being safe in daily living (around college/at home within community)
  • Personal relationships and friendships

How long will it take?

  • You study programme will be for the full academic year and your days of study will be for 3 full days per week
  • The Entry 2 certificate in Skills for Working Life is a 1 year programme

What qualifications do I need to start?

  • You do not need exam passes to start but you do need to be at entry 1 in literacy and numeracy
  • You will have at least one interview and an assessment of your literacy and numeracy and support needs before you are offered a place

What qualifications will I gain?

Course options after this programme

  • You may progress to an Entry 3 Skills for Working Life certificate or one of our other pathways but will need to reapply and acceptance will be depending on needs, ability and progress
