Courses

City and Guilds Level 3 Award in Education and Training

Ideal starting point to experience the world of teaching before committing to a career change. This short qualification provides an introduction to teaching or training in a vocational context. This course is delivered over 14 weeks (1 evening per week) or alternatively can be studied through a blended learning programme or block delivery.

Throughout the course you will be introduced to:

  • Roles, responsibilities and legislation related to teaching
  • Planning, delivering and assessing an inclusive lesson
  • Assessment principles and practice

City and Guilds Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment

This qualification is for practitioners carrying out assessments and quality assurance in a learning environment and provides a formal qualification to assess competence in the workplace. This course can be studied through a blended learning programme.

You will study:

  • Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (3 credits)
  • Assess occupational competence in the work environment (6 credits)
  • Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding (6 credits)

City and Guilds Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (12 credits)

This qualification is for those practitioners who carry out the internal quality assurance of the assessment process by sample planning, monitoring and guiding the practice of assessors. This course can be studied through a blended learning programme.

You will study:

  • Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment (6 credits)
  • Internally assure the quality of assessment (6 credits)

City and Guilds Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (17 credits)

This qualification is for practitioners who lead the internal quality assurance process within a centre/organisation. You will be responsible for managing the quality of the assessment process, practice and the performance of assessors as well as managing the External Quality Assurance activities.

You will study:

  • Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment (6 credits)
  • Internally assure the quality of assessment (6 credits)
  • Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility (5 credits)

Simon Keen

Following a successful career in the Mining and quarrying industries. Simon embarked on a career change into teaching, He has completed the Diploma in Education and Training after joining Reaseheath College as a lecturer in Construction Plant Engineering.

Simon’s training has enabled him to pass on hard gained vocational knowledge and experience, to Plant Mechanics of the future.

Simon says that by gaining an understanding of the methodology and underpinning theories of teaching that allows each Apprentice/Student to meet their full potential. Each student learns at their own pace and the Teacher Training allowed me to develop strategies that would allow each apprentice to reach their potential to improve their performance back in industry.

Simon has now successfully combined his Teacher Training with his management experience to become Engineering Curriculum Manager.
