Sophie Capper – Class of 2026
T Level Forestry and Arboriculture
Sophie Capper has developed both her practical skills and her confidence during her time at Reaseheath, finishing her course with a Merit and an aerial rescue qualification.
The Course
Sophie particularly enjoyed the practical sessions on her Forestry and Arboriculture course, as well as learning about tree identification.
One of her biggest challenges was climbing. Initially, she found it difficult, but with support from tutors and fellow students she gradually built her confidence and went on to achieve her aerial rescue ticket.
“Climbing was a hard thing for me to do at the start of my college course, but I learned from amazing staff and students and built up my confidence to become a good climber.”
The Achievement
Sophie was awarded the Hawkstone Park Award for Best Practical Student at the 2024 Presentation of Awards, recognising her practical ability and progress.
Her time at Reaseheath also helped her grow socially and become more comfortable around others. After initially finding it difficult to make friends, she developed strong friendships with fellow students who supported her throughout her course.
What’s Next
Sophie is considering a number of future options, including becoming a professional climber or pursuing a career in forestry.
She is also interested in becoming a teacher in the future and is looking forward to continuing to develop her knowledge of trees and the wider arboriculture industry.
