Alfie Pendlebury – Class of 2026

T Level Design, Surveying and Planning

Alfie Pendlebury has already taken his first steps towards a career in construction after completing his T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning with a Merit.

The Course

Alfie particularly enjoyed the combination of expert teaching and opportunities to apply his learning to real-world projects. A highlight was the annual Together Design Challenge, where students were asked to design a bungalow in response to a genuine client brief.

The project challenged Alfie to balance accessibility, sustainability, practicality and innovative design. Industry judges praised his technical understanding, presentation skills and ability to keep the client at the heart of his design.
“I enjoyed the course at Reaseheath the most and the teachers supporting you and being industry experts with advice.”

The Achievement

Alfie was named the overall winner of the Together Design Challenge and also received The Pochin Award for Best Work Experience Student, recognising the industry experience he gained during his placement.

He also achieved his CSCS card, giving him the qualification he needs to take his first steps on site.
Looking back on his time at Reaseheath, Alfie says winning the bungalow project, receiving his work experience award and gaining his CSCS card are among his proudest moments.

What’s Next

Alfie has secured a degree apprenticeship in Civil Engineering with Balfour Beatty. He will combine working in the industry with studying at the University of Salford one day a week.

“I’m hoping to progress more in civil engineering and push to get higher up roles within the industry.”
