Reaseheath College and University Centre’s Men’s 1st Team has secured its place in the Cheshire County Cup Final for the second year running.
Following a high-stakes semi-final victory against Knutsford Academy on March 16th, the squad is all set for a local showdown against Priestley College this Thursday, 26th March.
The journey to the final has been a testament to the squad’s elite conditioning and academic discipline. Standout players including Captain Tom Greenwood, Fin Shirley, Harry Walters, Luke Robson, and Peace Chilakalaka have been instrumental in the team’s success, maintaining a high standard of performance while balancing their specialist vocational studies at the Nantwich-based campus.
Jack Armstrong, Sports Lecturer at Reaseheath, said: “The lads have been top-class all season. They’ve worked hard, stayed disciplined, and really earned their place in this final. It’s not easy to balance full-time studies with high level college sport, but this group just gets on with it.
“We know Priestley will be a tough game, but the lads have good momentum going into the game. It’s a great time to be involved in football and sport at Reaseheath; the facilities we have are top quality and the setup we have here are giving these players the best possible platform.’’
Tom Greenwood, who studies Sports Coaching, added: “It’s a great feeling to be back in the final. The semi-final against Knutsford was a massive challenge, but the boys showed real character to get the job done and find the win in those last 10 minutes.
“For me, the best part of being Captain is leading this group. I try to set the standard on and off the pitch, and we’re all incredibly motivated to go out there on Thursday and bring the cup home.”
The final will kick off at 2pm at the Cheshire County Sports Ground in Chester.
