T Level (Level 3)
in Agriculture (Livestock)
The T Level is a government backed programme that is designed for talented individuals who wish to pursue a career within the field of agriculture.
This new three-year qualification which follows GCSEs is an exciting option if you are looking for a course which brings classroom theory and a practical 315-hour work placement together.
Developed in collaboration with employers and businesses, you will learn and experience many aspects of the Agriculture sector, to ensure you are well prepared for work in this industry.
What will I study?
In the first year you will cover core topics related to the Agricultural Industry such as:
- Health and Safety
- Sustainability
- Working in Agriculture, Environmental and Animal Care Sector
- Ethics
- Business
- Equality
- Communication
- Relationship management
- Finance
- Information and data
- Biosecurity
- Supply Chain
- Land-based equipment and machinery repair and maintenance
- Operating principles of systems and components
In the second year you will undertake a full 12 months sandwich year placement within the Agricultural sector.
In the third year you will study a standalone occupational specialism in:
- Livestock Production – This will develop further understanding of a specific sector within Agriculture.
To boost your employability, you will also undertake a two-week Employer Set Project which is great preparation for work in the industry, and you will also be required to complete 315 hours (equivalent to 45 days or 9 weeks) of work experience over the three-year course.
How long will it take?
- 3 years, full-time
What qualifications do I need to start?
- Typically 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (including maths and English), or a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject.
- You will also need to attend an interview and an applicant day
What qualifications will I gain?
- T Level (Level 3) in Agriculture, Land Management and Production (Livestock Production)
Course options after this programme
This course is equivalent to three A Levels, so you could decide to progress onto:
- Higher Education and study a degree,
- You could complete a Higher Apprenticeship or,
- Go straight into employment within the Agricultural sector
