Construction short courses

The following courses are held in our dedicated construction workshops and run during term time. All materials are included in the cost of the course. Places are limited and booking will be on a first come, first served basis.

Weekend Introduction to Carpentry and Joinery Household Tasks

Cost: £150

Dates:

Time: 9am – 3pm

Overview: This introductory two day workshop is for anyone interested in skirting, shelving, architraving, hanging a door and similar tasks around the house. The course content is flexible and if there is something specific you would like to cover (within reason) then please let us know before the course commences.

Weekend Introduction to Plastering

Cost: £150

Dates:

Time: 10am – 3pm

Overview: This introductory two day workshop is for anyone interested in learning the basic principles of plastering. At the end of the course, delegates should be competent in plaster boarding and skim finishing.

Weekend Introduction to Wall Tiling

Cost: £150

Dates:

  • TBC

Time: 10am – 3pm

Overview: This introductory two day workshop is for anyone interested in learning the basic principles of wall tiling. The course will include setting out and laying a course of tiles, including adding a feature pattern. By the end of the course delegates should be competent in tiling a wall.

Weekend Introduction to Brickwork

Cost: £150

Dates:

Time: 10am – 3pm

Overview: This introductory two day workshop will cover brickwork for the garden including brick walls, planters, bases etc. however the content will be flexible. If there is something specific you would like to build (within reason) then please let us know before the start of the course.

Weekend Introduction to Basic Woodworking Joints

Cost: £150

Dates:

Time: 9am – 3pm

Overview: This introductory 2 day workshop is for anyone interested in learning how to produce the common woodworking joints found in tables, chairs, doors and windows. These will include mortice and tenon, bridle joints and halving dovetails.
